Bio
Bishop
Paul Alexander Bowers was born and reared in Oxford, Pennsylvania.
After attending high school graduation he relocated to Columbus,
Ohio, where he attended Aenon Bible College. He graduated from
the Aenon Bible College in 1951 and received a Bachelor of Theology
Degree. He also graduated from the University of Cincinnati in
1964, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree. Bishop Bowers
taught in the Cincinnati Public School System for over 5 years.
He retired from teaching in 1968 to dedicate his time to the ministry.
Bishop Bowers served as Chairman of the Ohio District Council
of the Pentecostal Assemblies of The World, from 1976 to 1992.
During his tenure in office, he built a 100 Bed Nursing Home at
the ODC Campground in Zanesville, Ohio. Also at the Campground,
he built a 1,200 seated, air-conditioned Worship Center, a fully-equipped
cafeteria which seats 500 people and also built a dormitory which
can house 100 people. This Campground serves as a meeting and
retreat facility.
Bishop
Bowers served as the Diocesan Bishop of the Carolina Council of
the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World from 1976 to 1996. Under
his twenty year leadership, the number of churches in this Council
increased from 30 to 62 churches.
Bishop
Bowers served as the Assistant General Secretary, General Secretary
and Assistant Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of
the World, Inc. In 1992, he was elevated to the Office of the
Presiding Bishop, and served in this capacity for 6 years. During
his tenure as the Presiding Bishop of the PAW, Inc., he has remodeled
the International Headquarters facility in Indianapolis, Indiana,
along with the Aenon Bible College, a project that costs over
$2,220,000.00.
Presently
Bishop Bowers also serves as the Diocesan Bishop of the Ohio District
Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. He is
further developing the Campground in Zanesville, Ohio to provide
modem facilities for the Youth Retreats that are held at this
facility, to include basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball
field, lake area (stocked with fish) a walking trail and increased
parking facilities.
Bishop
Bowers presently pastors the Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple,
located at 1150 West Galbraith Road in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has
been the pastor since 1957. During his tenure as Pastor, he has
purchased and remodeled two churches. The present location seats
approximately 1,200 people and houses several classrooms, administrative
offices and an equipped food service department.
Bishop
Bowers was married to the late Dr. Elma J. Bowers, and they had
been united in Holy Matrimony for 45 years. They were blessed
to have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is now married to Lady Rebecca Ann Bowers. In November 2003,
they were united in Holy Matrimony.
His life's story is well noted in the "The Preaching Machine",
an exciting well written biography by award winning author, Holly
Broach Sowels. Bishop Bowers is a man of God, devoted to preaching
and teaching the Word of God, and serving the people of God.
